Welcome to Boxroom Print!

We source unique nostalgic and retro items to curate, creating new modern vintage pieces for your home as well as unique gifts. Our ethos is to repurpose and reuse as much as possible and we do this by our sourcing and preserving of items, handmaking, selecting, mounting and crafting each piece individually.

"Cakes and Ale" is written by British author W. Somerset Maugham and is widely regarded as his best novel. It bears the sub-title "Skeleton in the Closet" that skeleton is Rosie. It is a story that exposes the misguided social snobbery aimed at the character of Rosie. She has frankness and honesty that brings her into criticism and becomes a target to others. The author was quoted in 1950 as saying " The book I like best is Cakes and Ale, because in its pages lives for me the woman with the lovely smile who was the model for Rosie".
This is an original publication of this 1930s book, the entire book is shadow mounted with an off white bevelled edge mount, with glass panel and black box frame.
