The creative inspiration for the business was originally our now 4 yr old daughter, Sofia.

Even before Sofia was born, we knew we wanted to encourage a lifelong love of books. When looking for books for her as a young child, we realised minority groups are still incredibly underrepresented in children’s literature.

International research demonstrated that Personalised Books enhance a child’s reading experience by harnessing a sense of belonging and building confidence and self-esteem.

We ordered some of the most popular personalised books, and although they were good, we felt we could do something more inclusive and impactful for kids.

Thus, our first range of books was created. Sofia loved them and was now the CEO (Chief Excitement Officer).

We decided we wanted other children to find the same enjoyment in reading, just like Sofia, so we recreated these books and added a personal message.  Now, all of our personalised children's books have over 200 options to ensure we cater for a diverse range of children. Filled with lively illustrations, fun narratives and a range of other details, these books can act as a special keepsake or a fun gift to spark a love of reading.

Originally, our first range of books were based around gifts for new parents, birthdays, and for mums and dads. From here, we created our range of occasional seasonal books, perfect for Christmas and culturally diverse occasions such as Chinese New Year, Baisakhi, Easter, Hannukah, Diwali and Eid.  

As Sofia’s grandmother passed away in 2020, we found it challenging to explain what happened as first-time parents. The first book in the “Care and Wellbeing” section was created.  “You Are Not Alone” discusses how to deal with the loss of a loved one and helps children to process their emotions. 

It was a joy to see Sofia's eyes light up when a book was mentioned, and we began to work on a range of books she could read whenever she wanted. This is where “The Power Pen” Series was born.  The books in this series involve a power pen that helps the child on their reading adventure. 

“JK Rowling broke all the rules with Harry Potter! JK Rowling got 10-year-olds reading 600-page books; why?  I feel that it's because children want to read books….. The Power Pen series will have children wanting to read the books, as they're the star of the show!”.

More recently, Book Flicks has now been launched. This is essentially the Netflix of the Book world! Sofia often says, "Daddy, turn off Netflix and read me my book". This monthly subscription plan delivers the Power Pen series to your front door so that your child looks forward to each monthly delivery!
