You can smell his favourite tipple of cordial orgeat - the bitter almond, orange flower and brandy tickle your lips and nose, as well as your other senses. There’s an intoxicating smell of gunpowder from the duelling pistols wistfully intermingling with the beeswax candles. With one hand you might pass him a single rose, with the other remove your mask and dash it into the canal below.
Dusky dark rose soaked in cognac and bitter orange flower, teased with soft worn leather, hot wax, spicy cumin, deep saffron and held down by amber and dark woods. Not for the faint of heart, but for the bold of spirit.
