Dot & Doug
We are a luxury conscious childrenswear company based in the market town of Malmesbury, just on the edge of The Cotswolds. Founded by Designer Emma Hicks in 2019.
Emma, mum to four young boys, started Dot & Doug in her final year at university whilst studying Fashion Design. After discovering the shocking impacts of the fashion industry, Emma wanted to create a childrenswear brand that tackled the issues surrounding fast fashion. After raiding a box of treasures that belonged to her late grandmother Dorothy, Emma was inspired to base her first collection on some of her findings and to name the company after her late grandparents, Dorothy and Douglas. You will find hints of Emma’s late grandparents throughout the collections.
Starting in her kitchen Emma designed and sewed whilst juggling family life. Moving to the garden shed, and quickly upgrading to a studio. Due to wanting the manufacturing process to be at the heart of the product and creating a production process that was ethical, and transparent. Emma kept her studio local to her home and now employs her own skilled seamstresses to manufacture the clothing alongside her.
Dot & Doug’s production process accompanied with carefully selected fabrics, trims and packaging ensure brand values are at the core of everything they do. We use a range of fabrics, from organic to deadstock cottons and source environmentally friendly buttons, elastic and threads. We are very proud to say we are completely plastic free! And we constantly strive to become kinder to the planet.
