Hygge Your Life

Hygge Your Life
Hygge (pronounced hue-guh) is a Danish concept. It is defined in the Oxford Dictionary as ‘a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being’. In essence, hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. The simple principles of hygge include presence, togetherness, nature, light, cuisine, ambience, clothing, and leisure. You can practice the art of hygge by switching off, enjoying your surroundings and your company in a cosy environment.

Candlelight By Night

A candle can instantly create a warm and cosy atmosphere, making people feel relaxed and encourage people to snuggle up together. People who practice hygge usually follow the rule, natural daylight by day and candlelight by night.

Hot Drinks

We British folk love a hot drink. By treating yourself to something a little richer and more luxurious, turning off your electrical devices and wrapping yourself up in a big cosy blanket you can really experience the true feeling of hygge.

Socialise with People You Love

Togetherness is one of the core principles of hygge. Rather than tow people being in the same room but doing different things, it is about bringing people together. Socialising over food and drinks is encouraged, getting together to share and enjoy each other’s company.
